Thanks to all...

I want to begin with some pictures of grid the day before. I want thank the men and women that worked so hard to make it all possible. The Long Drivers Of America and RE/MAX staff was amazing. They were dealing with temperatures over 100*. This particular day was at least 107*. They were hard at work, very friendly and professional. I (on the other hand) was melting. I walked less than 100 yards and I was sweating in places I didn't know one could sweat.

These men and women do so much for the sport of Long-Drive. Your work does not go unnoticed. They did their best to keep all the athletes hydrated and cool.Long Drivers Of America and RE/MAX was an amazing host to all the competitors, their friends and family. Their dedication was impressive through out the the unbearable heat. They made it look easy.

Thank you to all the volunteer staff. They were so friendly and helpful.

I would like to give special thanks to Gary Brewer. He literally saved my life. It it was not for him being in the right place, at the right time, I would have suffered some serious injuries. He was my angel. At the time, I was so shocked, I only took a picture of his badge. Afterward, I got caught up in the excitement of the day.  I did not forget him though. I also did not forget the people at the snack bar. Theyprovided myself and some athletes with a bucket of water with ice. We used it tostick our hands in to lower our core body temperature so we would not over heat. I will not forget the Long Drivers Of America and RE/MAX staff that found and kept a small bag I had lost the first day. I was very valuable to me, and even though, I had to walk everywhere to find it, the fact is that I did. Most importantly, nothing was missing.

Thank you so muck, hope to see you all next year!

WOMEN OF LONG-DRIVE: RE/MAX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2013

Heather LeMaster (2013 World Champion), Jessica Wallstrom(European Champion), Lisa Vlooswyk(Canadian Champion), Sandra Carlborg(Two time World Champion), Lee Brandon(Two time World Champion)  and  Liezl Diffenthal(South African Champion).
Welcome everyone to the first post on this blog. This place has been created for women all over the world to send their pictures and stories to be shared with everyone interested in the amazing sport of Long-Drive. On behalf of the two time World Champion (Ms. Lee Brandon) and myself (Yolanda Cabada- Photographer), we officially welcome everyone.

As a Sports photographer, this was my first time at the RE/MAX World Championships in Mesquite, Nevada.  I am not a golfer, and even though the ball is not moving, I still can't hit it--"It is fun trying though". I've heard a lot of stories from Ms. Brandon, but my mind was blown by what I experienced.  The pictures I took captured so many emotions. As I was taking them, I went on a fabulous roller coaster with these great women.  Three minutes of incredible adrenaline rush.  Afterwards, an instant look back on what just happened. I will do my best to show you all the beautiful things I experienced. The spirit of these women and the sport of Long-Drive itself.

Thank you to all the women who came out this year to compete, and I challenge everyone to rally to start a Women's over 40+ Master division for more women to join in the fun.  We are open to all ideas and proposals.  We will provide details here later.  We hope all of our combined efforts to promote the sport will manifest in two divisions (Women's Open and Women's Master).

***This is a non profit labor of love.  The intent is to shine a spot light on the sport of Long-Drive for Women and the great athletes pioneering and blazing the trail in this great sport. Please contact us. We would like to do an article on each competitor. Write to womenworldlongdrive@gmail.com.

Let's begin!!!
